shai story
“It has been a long-standing dream of mine to be a dancer; I have always enjoyed moving to the beat of good music. I have always loved teaching other people how to dance; the satisfaction I feel when I see the joy on people’s faces as they dance is immeasurable. The Shai-N Dance Academy came into existence solely based on my desire to spread the joy of dance to as many people as possible. The 9 years that I’ve spent training to be a dance instructor have been some of the best years of my life and further reinforced the belief that dance was what I was meant to do. One of the best things about dance is that it doesn’t discriminate; no matter the age, race, gender or nationality. Through our wedding dance classes, I’ve gotten the chance to be part of so many of the students’ special days, and that is a feeling that is truly indescribable. As a ballroom dance instructor, my position affords me the chance to instil a sense of confidence that comes with dancing and that is one of the biggest gifts of all. I don’t believe in the concept of two left feet. We all have a dancer within us; we just need to feel the rhythm and connect with the music! Watching students who initially identified as non-dancers dance with confidence and flair is one of my biggest sources of happiness. I have, on this constantly evolving journey of dance, grown and learned new skills. I hope to bring international exposure to the dancing fraternity in Goa and add to our repertoire of dance classes in Goa. Shai’s determination and patience towards her students, and a warm welcoming smile has made a mark on everyone who has been a part of the Shai-N Dance family. To be a dancer has always been her long-standing dream, and after winning Gold in a national competition for Salsa & Waltz, she decided it was time to give back to the people who love dancing as much as she does. Thus, in that spirit, the Shai-N Dance Academy was opened!

Andre’s creativity and choreographic brilliance have made him a fine teacher at the academy. He is a partner in the Shai-N Dance Academy and is an integral part of the lives of all those who come to take forward their passion for dancing.
